The Consultation

The determination of what is called Constitution, in Sanskrit named "Prakriti", is essential to the Ayurveda Therapy. Once we identify our constitution we get more insights into the deeper aspects of our being and we become more aware of the types of food, activities, spices, emotions, thoughts, etc., that tend to either balance or unbalance our nature.

The first consultation lasts about 2 hrs; Its main purpose is to identify your "Prakriti" or the constitution in terms of the Doshas, your natural tendency. In the same time, it implies a complete evaluation of the doshas, subdoshas and the dhatus (tissues) so we can identify your "Vikriti" or the present imbalance you are experiencing and the main cause of your suffering. Furthermore, through the consultation, we can plan a diet and other routine activities that are supporting your constitution in order to maintain the good health and to prevent diseases.

After the first meeting, regular visits will be required for a period of time for the changes to be implemented and the treatment to be followed. You might have to visit once a week or every two weeks for the first month, and then once a month for three months along with major seasonal adjustments or therapies. The initial consultation is great for you to understand more your nature. However, more time and effort will be required from your side to implement the necessary changes and therefore reach a state of balance.

Once the Prakriti and the Vikriti are identified, together we design a program meant to bring you more in tune with your constitution and your natural tendency using some of the following tools:

- A change of diet and life style according to the individual constitution;
- A series of purification and reduction procedures (Pancha Karma techniques), external oleations such as Abhyanga, External Basti, Shirodhara, etc.
- Intake of a variety of herbs or herbal preparations (such as powders, herbal jellies, pills and mineral preparation);
- Subtle Healing techniques (such as marma therapy, aroma therapy, color therapy, mantras);
- Yoga practices such as pranayama (breathing) exercises, asanas (physical posture ) and meditation practices through which the energy potential within can be unfold.
